Technology Support Donation Letter

August 2010

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Aptos High School is striving to create the richest possible educational experience possible for your student(s).  This includes engaging student and teacher activities that require working with technology.  We believe that working with computers in classrooms and computer labs are not a simple luxury, but a critical requirement for our students to be current in a fast moving technological world.

The school computers, software, required training, and technical support come at a cost.  Recently, the district was forced to cut all technical support, because of this individual school sites are required to find funding to purchase and maintain computers, printers, and scanners at the school.  Because of these crucial needs, Aptos High School will be asking parents to make a technology support donation for every student during the 2010-11 school year.

You may choose to pay one of four levels of support:

  1. $10.00 – Basic Support Level
  2. $25.00 – Silver Support Level
  3. $50.00 – Gold Support Level
  4. $100+ - Platinum Support Level

The initial goal for the use of the funds raised through technology support donations are to pay the approximately $20,000 cost for a one day a week School Site Network Technician.  One day a week is the minimum level of support we will need to maintain our current technology resources.  I want to extend my enormous gratitude to the AHS Boosters Club who have already pledged to fund half of the site network technician position for the 2010-11 school year.  Any funds raised after reaching this initial goal will be used for upgrades of obsolete equipment (hardware), software, and additional technician support days when needed and other technology related needs.  These funds will not be spent on any other curricular or extracurricular needs and will always remain at AHS.

We assure you that not one student will be denied any opportunity or material if their parent or guardian cannot make this donation, and that student grades will in no way be affected.

The best ways to make this donation are to:

  • Pay with your credit card through the Pay Pal account on the AHS website
  • Write a check to AHS Technology and have your student deliver to the AHS Account Specialist Julie   Locatelli at the back window of the Main office between morning break and 3:15pm, M-F.
  • Deliver check or cash to Office Manager Melani Davis in the Main Office.

Thank you for supporting technology at Aptos High School!

Respectfully,

Casey O’Brien - Principal, Aptos High School
