Ahoy Mariners!!!

Aptos Robotics, otherwise known as Mariner Robotics LLC, specializing in underwater environmental research and recovery, have done it again.  The team with took First Place!!!

Winning the regional competition qualifies them to progress to the International Underwater Robotics Competition for 2012, being held this year in Orlando, Florida.

Thank you to all of you who have supported these students in you classes and as they made sacrifices to participate in this event.

This amazing group of students competed against nine other teams from Northern and Central California at the Monterey Bay Regional Underwater (ROV) Remotely Operated Vehicle contest hosted by the MATE (Marine Advanced Technology and Education) Center.   The team took top scores for the Engineering Poster Display, and top Mission for both underwater tasks as well as placing high enough in the Engineering Evaluation to earn a top score overall.

When you see them, please congratulate them, they have achieved great success.

Team Members
Bailey DaCosta, Serena Calcagno, Joe McMinn, Charisse Hardin, Kayla Zoliniak, Chris Randolph, Michael Sheely, and Brad Cole. (Not pictured are team members Nathaniel Willy and Ava Bobby, and the ROV "Predator")
