8422 Career English (D)
This is a one-year course designed to build on literacy skills and competencies developed in the first two years of high school English. Emphasis is placed on the development of business-oriented skills such as formal and informal letters, completing applications and forms, and phone etiquette. Students become educated with language skills needed in jobs and careers as well as day-to-day living situations
8456 Career Math (D)
This course is designed to provide students with essential math skills that are needed for success on the job. This course is for students who are on a career path that includes career choices other than a high school diploma. It provides a basic framework in t he varied aspects of everyday problem solving as well as calendar, measurement, time and other basic skills. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division plus fractions and percentages are included in this course as well.
8994 Community Based Education (D)
This course is designed to allow students who are on a non-diploma track to develop the essential skills needed for job success. The course provides opportunities for student to do real work on actual job sites and receive pay for the hours worked. The course focuses on on-the-job behavior and attitude and appearance, as well as other elements for job success.
8412 Essential English
This course is designed to provide non-diploma bound student with essential English skills that are needed to be successful on the job and in everyday life. The course focuses on listening skills, essential vocabulary, word definitions, and the basic elements of English needed for job success. The basic elements of English are taught including: parts of speech, grammar, spelling, and contractions. Survival sign knowledge is also stressed.
8612 Fine Art Elective (D)
This course is designed to teach the students the basic elements of drawing, colors, design, and other skills and crafts that enrich student lives and provide a life-long appreciation for art and all its facets. Students learn to work together and produce projects that give value and satisfaction for a lifetime.
8146 Geography/History (D) This is a one-year course that combines historical knowledge of the division and location of land by city, county, state, country and continent with knowledge of bodies of water, landforms, climate, roads, and political divisions of land.
8398 Health and Human Biology (D)
This is a one-year course designed to provide students with knowledge of the systems of the human body, positive lifelong attitudes, and behaviorism and make wise health decisions related to their personal health and safety.
