If your student is absent please call the attendance office at ext. 202
If a student becomes ill once he/she has arrived on campus and cannot get to class, that student must check out at the Nurse’s Office. Leaving without an off-campus permit will be considered truancy.
Students who need to leave campus early for an appointment or other reason must check out with the attendance office (688-6565, X202)or they will be considered truant. After checking out, a student must leave campus immediately. Please support academic success by trying to schedule all routine medical and dental appointments outside of school hours.
At Aptos High School we are striving to teach young people to be responsible for their actions and decisions. Yet, despite our efforts, we recognize that some students decide not to attend school/classes regularly and accumulate unexcused absences. In an effort to foster a sense of responsibility and accountability, we are requiring students to monitor and address their own attendance and attendance issues on a regular basis. Furthermore, in an attempt to support the academic success of all students we will also review student attendance on a monthly basis.
Students are expected to be in school every day that school is in session and are expected to track their own attendance and address discrepancies in a timely manner. Parents/Guardians have 3 working days (72 HOURS from the date of the absence) to clear an absence. However, if a student accumulates 5 or more unexcused PERIOD absences, he/she will be assigned Saturday School.
