ROP Medical Technologies

Grade Level: 12th grade recommended.

Recommended Preparation:  Successful completion of ROP Health Careers

This course consists of scientific concepts, theories, and skill development for students interested in biology, anatomy, and health care careers. It is designed to follow biology or another life science related class. Course will provide the students with a solid base of knowledge and skills in health science in which college or advanced training is expected. This course provides an in-depth study of medical terminology, physiology and anatomy, first aid, CPR, vital signs, infection control, legal and ethical responsibilities, medical math, business and accounting skills and preparing for the world of work in a healthcare setting including medical assistant, lab work, and physical therapy. Related lab activities are an integral part of this course. All students will participate in hospital rotations.

This course meets UC/CSU requirements for college-prep elective (G) and articulation for waiver request for 1st Responder.
