1046 English Language Development Tutor
Recommended Preparation: Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish, GPA of 3.0 or above, good attendance, prefer good computer skills, BRT or Counselor approval, and Tutorial Assignment with Master Teacher
Grade Level: 11-12
This course is designed for a qualified student to receive instruction and training to develop communication and leadership skills and SDAIE strategies for second language learners within a classroom setting. This is especially valuable for students considering teaching as a profession. The student will be assigned a classroom teacher (Master Teacher) in one of their strongest content areas (math, science, social sciences, English) and work with that teacher during one class period a day for the entire semester. The student is also responsible to meet once a week with their Master Teacher and with the Bilingual Resource Teacher during the tutorial periods to discuss lesson plans, individual and group participation, and classroom issues. The student must maintain a weekly reflection journal that will be reviewed with the BRT. Your A-F grade in this class will heavily depend upon your attendance, communication with your Master Teacher, and how well you can work with the targeted students in this class. You may also be asked to translate important concepts the teacher will be presenting.

Math Tutor
Recommended Preparation: Have an “A” in class to be tutoring for, good attendance, Math teacher recommendation
Grade Level: 11 & 12
This course is designed for a qualified student to act as a teacher’s assistant to provide assistance for student who need extra help. The student will be assigned a classroom teacher (Master Teacher) in one of their strongest content areas (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry) and work with that teacher during one class period a day for the entire semester. The student must maintain a weekly reflection journal that will be reviewed by the Master Teacher. The Pass/Fail grade in this class is measured by attendance, communication with Master Teacher and ability to interact with a dicers student population in a positive and professional manner. This course is considered a professional job. Upon successful completion of course, the student can request a letter of recommendation from the Master Teacher.

5980 Science Lab Tech
Recommended Preparation: Science Dept. Chair person's recommendation
Grade Level: 10-12.
Class size is 2 students per period. This elective class gives hands-on training in lab and technical skills needed in the workplace. Under close teacher supervision, students will work in the Science Dept. labs; doing lab prep., inventory, equipment repair, safety demonstrations, ongoing projects, and training of others. This will be a real workplace environment with records of attendance, skills certified in a portfolio, and evaluation all keyed to each student individually. May be repeated for credit up to 4 semesters.

5984 Technology Assistant
Recommended Preparation: Experience and aptitude with computers and teacher approval.
Grade Level: 10-12
This course gives qualified students hands-on experience and formal training in computer troubleshooting and technical support. Students will assist teachers (and other students) in maintaining and using campus-wide networked computers. Students will also study for Microsoft and MacOS technical support certification.
