Saturday Academy

AHS Saturday Academy Policy 2019-2020

Saturday Academy is an academic avenue of support which can help students that have excessive absences or tardies, or for students in need of academic support in subject-specific courses.

Saturday Academy Dates

Fall 2019:

  • September 7 and 21
  • October 5 and 19
  • November 2 and 16 
  • December 7 and 14

Spring Dates:

  • January 18
  • February 15
  • March 7    -  The 14th and 21st have been CANCELLED
  • April 11, 18, and 25
  • May 2, 9, 16 and 30

IMPORTANT REMINDER (For students that are assigned a Saturday Academy): 

  • Failure to attend Saturday Academy may result in a 1 day suspension.
  • Any student arriving after 9:05 am on Saturday morning can be counted as a no-show and be assigned a 1 day suspension or an additional Saturday Academy.
  • Any disruption/defiance at Saturday Academy will result in the student being sent home immediately by the instructor in charge and the student may receive an out of school suspension as a consequence.


  • Students agree to be on the cafeteria stairs at AHS by 9:00 am, be dressed appropriately, and stay until 1 pm.
  • Students agree to bring books and school work to study.
  • Students who are assigned detentions and/or Saturday Academy agree to be responsible for remembering the scheduled days.  If unable to attend, the parent of the student agrees to notify the assistant principal.  Please coordinate changes in advance with an Assistant Principal.
  • If students become ill on the day of an assigned Saturday Academy, the parent agrees to call the discipline office at ext. 5189 by 10:00 am the following Monday.
