  •  Students & staff, you may have seen the most recent update from our Superintendent Dr. Rodriguez regarding the most effective face masks to protect yourself and others from COVID. The CDPH has updated their guidance to clarify that the most effective masks in protecting yourself and others from COVID are N95 masks. If you do not have an N95 mask, the next best type are the KN95 and KF94 masks, followed by surgical masks. Teachers, please be sure to request surgical masks from Claudia to have on hand to distribute to your students as necessary. while cloth masks are no longer recommended, if you do have cloth masks, they can only work well if they are tight fitting and made of materials that filter out small particles. Good cloth masks have:

    •  Two layers of tightly woven cotton with a third layer of non-woven fabric. The third layer could be a mask filter insert, or a synthetic fabric such as polypropylene.

    •  Nose wires to reduce gaps from the nose.

    •   Adjustable ear loops or straps that go around the head to reduce gaps from the face.

As always, the best protection for yourself and others is to have your mask UP OVER your MOUTH and NOSE...Masks Up, Sails Up!

We are looking forward to celebrating Homecoming next week with dress up days, lunch activities every day, our awesome parade on Wednesday afternoon, and JV & Varsity football games on Friday night. Homecoming is a time to welcome back our alumni, celebrate our wonderful campus community, and show gratitude for our amazing staff. And while we have great events to celebrate next week, I have to take a moment to address the destructive and disrespectful behavior some students are exhibiting in the quad and open spaces and especially in our bathrooms. At a time when we need to come together now more than ever, there are some Mariners who are abusing the facilities we work so hard to keep clean and safe for all to use. Every Mariner shares in the responsibility of keeping our campus safe & clean. Thank you to the student leaders who are cleaning up after themselves in the quad. Thank you to the freshman and sophomore students who are changing their behaviors by not chasing, hitting, or running. Thank you to the staff who are reporting the anit-social behaviors you are seeing and redirecting students to do better. You all are awesome! All Students: please take a moment to download the StopIT app today. Report instances of destructive behavior. Staff, please encourage our students to be as respectful out on the broader campus as they are being in your classrooms under your care. Mariners, it takes a village
